The combination of the various band members, their ideas, their musical background and the shared passion for music was the basis for a platform for positive energy. Boka Halat the Banjul combines tensely Mbalax with music from around the world, Jazz, Afrobeat, reggae, rock and more... Ebou Gaye Mada is a very talented griot/percussionist from Gambia, West Africa. Ebou uses percussion, vocals and a form of rap called Kebetu. Kebetu sounds so powerful that you can almost feel the pressing importance of the message.

Ebou Gaye Mada and Sheikh Tijan Samba were both part of the legendary Gambian band Ifang Bondi. This band created the Afro-Mandinka beat and was the first that used traditional instuments like the sabar in West African pop music.
