Mazzeltov
"Snitch" is the title of the latest concert of Mazzeltov. Folk musicians have always stolen songs from elsewhere to give them a new life here. Mazzeltov has stolen songs of goyim to transfer them in Yiddish, with amazing results. Yiddish comes to life, not only because of the reputation of the original, but also by the new arrangement in Eastern European style. Familiar songs like "Windmills of Your Mind" (Circles), "Sideways" by Herman van Veen, "Amsterdam" by Jacques Brel and "The Truth" by Marco Borsato suddenly sound like ancient Yiddish classics. In spring 2008 the latest CD "Amsterdam" was recieved with enthusiasm. The previous CD "Mishpoge" was nominated for an Edison. Mazzeltov performed several times in the Great Hall of the Amsterdam Concertgebouw for a wildly enthusiastic audience. The Times wrote earlier: "They know to bring all the songs with panache and sophistication through an impressive technique, a tasteful arranging art and above all their great vitality. The result is klezmer on international level, nothing like a dusty museum piece."
