Nadara
With its up-tempo gipsy-grooves the Gipsy Wedding Band Nadara gets many parties going. The special blend of Romaroots, Romanian bellydance music and Hungarian traditional folk music is a proven success formula and thrills young and old. Nadara shows that also with an acoustic orchestra you can get a dancefloor moving.
The ensemble consisting of musicians and dancers provides a unique demonstration of contemporary Transylvanian gypsy culture. As guardians of the musical family legacy the musicians of Nadara hold on to the traditions of their ancestors. But they are equally busy developing their own style and a fresh angle on the music of Transylvania. Nadara's repertoire is mainly composed of original pieces and gypsy is sung in Romanes. The dance, very present in the gypsy culture, makes the music complete.
The Nadara Gipsy Wedding Band conquered not only the local wedding market in Transylvania, but also world stages throughout Europe. The band played in the film 'Transylvania' by Toni Gatlif, at the Sziget festival in Budapest, the film festival in Cannes, at the Tropical Museum and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and many other international venues. Band leader Alexandra Beaujard is one of the main advisers of director Toni Gatlif, known for films such as 'Latcho Drom' and 'Gadjo Dilo'. She has him, as a connoisseur and interpreter, introduced to the gypsy culture in Romania.
